This is a little different post. I just want to chime in about my recent experiences with letting go of FaceBook for awhile.
I used to check it many times a day. I'd scroll through the posts, repost, comment, and generally lived a whole life virtually with others, many of whom I never even met.
It seemed to fulfill a niche within me, a longing to connect, and a feeling that I was learning something new about the world - as well as contributing something useful.
Something happened a few weeks ago where I decided not to check FaceBook much, or at all. So I let it go.
At first, like any withdrawal from any addiction, I felt rather empty. What to fill my newfound time with?
Well I still surfed the web, but I found myself looking for content targeted to my interests, which lately have ranged to spiritual topics such as meditation and other "out there" kinna stuff.
What I found is I feel overall a lot clearer, and less cluttered. Calmer. More relaxed.
You may not realize the effect that checking your email, or FaceBook, or other electronic gizmo 73 times an hour has on your psyche and well-being, but let me tell you - it's a LOT!
So I encourage you to go cold turkey for a few days. Let go of checking FB, or your email, unless absolutely necessary.
You might even, gasp, take a walk! Or notice the sunshine! Or be forced into a real connection with a friend. Or perhaps you'll restart that hobby gaining dust.
Point is, you'll gain a heck of a lot more than you realize.
Let me know how it goes.
